ruído que Lily produzia a retirar os pratos. O tema da conversa era
a companhia de ópera que actuava nessa altura no Teatro Royal. Mr
Bartell D'Arcy, o tenor, um jovem de tez trigueira e bigode elegante,
teceu largos encómios ao primeiro contralto, mas Miss Furlong achava
que ela tinha uma execução muito trivial. Freddy Malins disse que
um cantor negro, que actuava como chefe tribal na segunda parte da
pantomima que estava em cena no Teatro Gaiety, tinha uma das melhores
vozes de tenor que ele já ouvira.»
